FAQ
Everything you need to know about points, wearables, workouts, and more.
What is Receipts?
Receipts is an app that rewards you for your workouts and training.
How does it work?
The app connects directly to your wearable (Apple Watch, Garmin, Coros, WHOOP, Oura, etc.).
For minutes of intensity during recorded workouts, you get rewarded with points.
You can also activate tracks and challenges to earn more rewards.
How do you make money?
Brands spend a lot of money every year on ads trying to reach people who workout a lot.
We re-purpose ad spend from places like Instagram and Google, and distribute them directly as rewards.
We take a small cut when we do.
We're also releasing a paid premium version of Receipts with more perks and rewards.
Do you sell my data?
We do not ever sell your data.
What counts as an intensity minute?
We've developed an algorithm to score what an intensity minute means for each person, including data that takes into account baseline resting heart rate and heart rate zones during workouts. Think around a zone 2 heart rate.
You can do any kind of activity to earn intensity minutes, as long as your heart rate is elevated enough.
How are points calculated?
- For every intensity minute during your workout (minute of elevated heart rate) you'll earn points. 1 intensity minute = 1 point.
- Points are capped at 150/week (for now).
Can I earn more rewards?
Yes!
We have experiences like Tracks (unlock rewards as you advance through challenges) and Drops (time-sensitive limited products) so you can earn even more.
What if my points aren't showing up?
Any workout around a zone 2 or above should contain intensity minutes and earn points (heart rate around 110-115 bpm).
For Oura, heart rate data is not always available immediately upon completion of a recorded workout. Elevated heart rate and points data may not appear in Receipts (or may appear as 0) upon completion of an activity.
You should see this update within 24 hours, but if you are still seeing 0 points for a valid recorded workout, please reach out to our team (hello@receipts.xyz).
What if my workouts aren't showing up?
We sync data directly from the wearables and fitness trackers. If your workouts are correctly showing up in your device's app (Garmin's app, Whoop's app, etc.) and not showing up in Receipts, please send us an e-mail hello@receipts.xyz.
Why heart rate as the metric?
Heart rate data is something measurable across any activity or sport. You can run, swim, play pickleball, lift weights, surf, or dance - as long as your heart rate is elevated we know you're exercising and can reward you.
Wearables (watches, bands, rings) and heart rate monitors (chest straps) use biometrics that measure changes in blood volume or detect your pulse via electric signals emitted by your heart.
How can I create an account?
You can create an account with a phone number, and connect your wearable with a couple of taps.
Which wearables do you support?
We currently support Apple Watch, Garmin, Coros, Whoop, and Oura Ring with direct integrations.
We have plans to integrate directly with more wearables.
What if I have more than one wearable?
We only allow one wearable to be connected to Receipts at one time.
However, if you workout with multiple wearables, we have measures in place to dedupe workouts.
Just do your workout like you normally would, we got you.
Do you have referrals?
Receipts is better with friends. You can refer friends with a unique link/code in settings.
You both get 100 bonus points after their first workout (with intensity minutes).
How many points can I earn per week?
Points are currently capped at 150 per week.
That equates to 2.5 hours of intense workout time, as generally recommend by the World Health Organization, the American Heart Association, and longevity experts.
What can I do with points?
You can redeem points for exclusive offers to brands, race entries, drops, merch, gift cards, and more.
How do leaderboards work?
We have a global leaderboard of every athlete on Receipts, and it refreshes every 5 minutes. Leaderboards give a quick summary of workouts someone has done for this current week.
Our leaderboards reset every Sunday 11:59 PM ET, so every week you'll get a chance to be in the arena.
Can I make my account private?
Yes, you can easily make your account private by tapping your avatar to go into Settings, tapping Preferences, tapping Privacy Settings, and checking Only Me.
By doing so, nobody will be able to view your profile/workouts and they won't appear on leaderboards.
What about manually uploaded workouts?
Manually uploaded workouts won't be eligible to earn points.
Why are my workouts not displaying correctly?
Receipts receives data differently from each wearable (some are more detailed than others). We recommend recording workouts directly from the wearables themselves.
Devices without screens, like Whoop and Oura send the most detailed data to Receipts when workouts are manually recorded from their apps.
Why does my workout show "0" intensity minutes?
It's likely that you did a workout, but your heart rate wasn't elevated enough to be an intensity minute.
How can I partner or refer a partner?
Please e-mail hello@receipts.xyz, let's chat.
What information do you collect from me?
We typically collect workout details (sport type, duration, pace, heart rate, etc.) so you can earn points and compete against friends, and physiological profile data (age, gender, etc.) so we can build more customized experiences for you.
You'll have the option to grant or deny access to this data (some features may not fully work as a result).
Who made Receipts?
We're a small (but mighty) team based out of Brooklyn, Raleigh, and Vancouver.
We love to run, bike, lift, and flow.
